Understanding Hajj: The Journey of a lifetime (Deloitte Muslim Network & CBHUK)

Join City Professionals at the Delloite Hajj Awareness Event 2018
Organised by the Deloitte Muslim Network in partnership with CBHUK.

As-Salaam Alaykum (we greet you with salutations of peace),

Join us on Wednesday, 04 July at our Understanding Hajj: The journey of a lifetime event in partnership with Council for British Hajjis (CBHUK).

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, it is an obligation of every Muslim to fulfil their right to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime. As long as they have the means for it, and are in good health.

Over three million Muslims worldwide travel annually to the Holy city of Mecca to participate in this pilgrimage and achieve this milestone in life.

Attending this event will give you first-hand knowledge regarding Hajj from both, those who work in this industry and those who have previously been on the journey themselves. Please prepare any questions you may have about Hajj beforehand, as this will be an interactive session, as follows:

• 6:15pm – Welcome drinks
• 6:45pm – Introductions
• The Spiritual Journey – Shaykh Yunus Dudhwala (Head of Chaplaincy and Bereavement Services
at Bath Health NHS Trust)
• The Physical Journey – Rashid Mogradia (Founder & CEO, CBHUK)
• Avoiding Common Pilgrimage Pitfalls
• 8:00pm – Pilgrims share their experience
• 8:30pm onwards – Canapes & networking

This event is free, but you have to register your attendance. We look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,
Deloitte Muslim Network

CBHUK
CBHUK (Council of British Hajjis) was founded in 2006 after concerns were raised over the welfare of British pilgrims during Hajj 2005. These included failed promises by some tour operators and general lack of preparedness by the pilgrims themselves.

CBHUK continue to represent the British Muslim community on matters pertaining to Hajj & Umrah travel and work closely with Licensed Hajj & Umrah Organisers.

Their work also entails working with key government departments such as the Department of Business and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office as well as agencies like the City of London Police, Trading Standards and the Civil Aviation Authority.

Hajj
Hajj (in Arabic: الحج) is the greater Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, that takes place in the last month of the lunar year and all Muslims are expected to make at least once during their lifetime if they have the means for it. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
