Hajj 2024 – Guidance for British Pilgrims

The initial launch of the Nusuk Hajj Portal is for prospective pilgrims to register their interests for Hajj 2024.  Registering on the platform does not mean that you will be accepted for Hajj.  Packages and payment options will be made available later.  Please subscribe to our newsletter for guidance and to be kept up to date on developments. 

Nusuk Hajj is the one-stop-shop platform overseen by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, offering pilgrims from serviced countries (including the UK) a variety of Hajj packages, provided by authorized service providers, ensuring a seamless Hajj experience.

Registering on the Nusuk Hajj Portal

Advice before you start to register on the Nusuk Hajj platform.

Have digital copies of:

(1) Your Passport and (2) Passport Photo and (3) British Residency Permit – if applicable (see guidance on file dimension and file size for each item below) 

Nusuk Hajj Registration Steps

  • Step 1: Create an Account on the Nusuk Hajj Portal 
  • Step 2: Upload Your Documents
  • Step 3: Fill in the Application

 

Application is submitted for verification

  • Step 4: Application is Verified (notified via email) 
  • Step 5: Select Preferred Package Category/Type
  • Step 6: Activate Your eWallet

Personal Photo background must be white and in modest clothes

and if applicable:

  • Your digital copy of your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit)

as these will be required to create a pilgrim profile.  

  • You will be able to add companions (family members, Mahrams & dependents) to your profile later.   This will allow you to perform Hajj together. 
  • TIP: DO NOT CREATE individual profiles for family members, rather add them to the main profile.

2. Profile Verification (Nusuk Step No. 4)

Verification of Nusuk Hajj registrations commenced in mid January 2024.   

When your profile has been verified, you will receive and email from Nusuk to confirm your profile “Audit has been Completed“.

Do not worry if your profile has not yet been verified, the Nusuk team are working through everyone’s profiles.  If your profile is not verified, you will be advised to correct the information and resubmit, this is normal. 

Once your profile has been verified, you need to log into Nusuk Hajj and take the following two actions:

Nusuk Hajj Registration Step No. 5 > Select Preferred Package (Select whether your preferred package is “shifting” or “non-shifting” and the packages type, Standard, Premium or Luxury

Nusuk Hajj Registration Step No. 6 > Activate your eWallet in readiness to transfer funds for when packages are released.
Note:  Your bank and card vendors may charge a fixed fee or a percentage of the total amount as foreign transfer fee.  We advise you to shop around as these figures could add up significantly.  As per Nusuk T&C’s, you may withdraw funds you have topped up, however, a  1.5% processing fee will be deducted from the total refunded.

Note: You do not need to physically top up the eWallet to activate it.  Just following the process to select a card/bank is sufficient.

How to Add/Remove Family Members

Navigate to your profile where you will see “My Family” option on the left hand side, select this and follow the on-screen options.

Note:

  • Once your profile has been verified do not make any changes unless it is necessary (e.g new passport has been issued) as it will reset your verified status and your profile will have to undergo verification again.  
  • Every new member of your family added to your profile will have to undergo verification .

What's the Official platform to book Hajj 2024?

Nusuk Hajj is the official platform for booking and managing your Hajj 2024 booking for pilgrims from Europe (including the UK), North & South America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Are Temporary Visas, like Student Visas or Schengen Visas Accepted?

Temporary visas, such as student visas or Schengen visas, are not accepted. You must be a citizen or a resident of one of the targeted countries for this year. 

What type of Hajj packages will be on offer this year?

Packages differ from each other depending on the services they include. With a desire to facilitate the process of comparing and choosing packages for pilgrims, standardized package categories have been designed to provide options that suit the diverse preferences of pilgrims in terms of service levels and prices.

What's the difference between a Shifting and a Non-Shifting Package?

Shifting

Shifting Packages provide pilgrims with an accommodation located in close proximity to the Sacred Mashair sites during the Hajj period, ensuring both comfort in accommodation and ease of access to their belongings. Additionally, these packages offer a second accommodation in Makkah, before or after the Hajj period, typically situated near Al-Masjid Al-Haram, facilitating convenient access for prayers.

 

Non-Shifting

Non-Shifting packages provide pilgrims with a single accommodation throughout their stay in Makkah, both before and after performing the Hajj rituals at the Sacred Mashair sites. This adds a level of convenience to pilgrims as they are not required to relocate during their stay in Makkah.

 

Which Hajj Service Providers are Authorised to Offer Hajj 2024 Packages under the Direct Hajj Program (B2C) ?

The following companies have been authorised by the Ministry of Hajj & Umrah to offer Hajj packages under the Direct Hajj Program (Hajj B2C): 

 

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes, pilgrims under the age of 12 are not accepted for Hajj this year 1445 AH – 2024 AD.

What are the Health requirements for Hajj 2024?

The Saudi Ministry of Health has released the Health requirements for Hajj 2024.

For British pilgrims the following applies:

Mandatory: Meningitis ACWY

  • Quadrivalent (ACYW) Polysaccharide Vaccine, 10 days prior to arrival and should not exceed 3 years.
  • Quadrivalent (ACYW) Conjugated2 Vaccine within the last 5 years, and at least 10 days prior to arrival.
  • Health authorities at the pilgrims’ country of origin should ensure their vaccination within the required validity period and make sure that the type of vaccine and its date is clearly shown in the vaccination certificate. If the vaccine type is not indicated on the certificate, it will be considered valid for 3 years only

 

Recommended:

  • COVID-19 (All travelers aged 12 years and over, intending to perform or attend Hajj from all countries) 
  • Seasonal Influenza (Travelers arriving to Hajj areas for Hajj, seasonal work or other purposes, particularly pregnant women, children under 5 years, the elderly, individuals with chronic medical conditions (such as chronic cardiac, pulmonary, renal, metabolic, neurodevelopmental, liver, or hematologic diseases) and individuals with immunosuppressive conditions (such as HIV/AIDS, receiving chemotherapy or steroids, or malignancy)

 

We advise you to consult your local GP / Doctor /  Practice Nurse /  Travel Clinic early to ensure your health needs are addressed and that you are up to date with all other vaccines. 

Does registering on the Nusuk Hajj Platform mean that I have been accepted for Hajj?

Registering on the platform does not mean that you will be accepted for Hajj. Packages and payment will be available at a later time. Please subscribe to the newsletter to follow up on the opening dates for reservations.

Is the Nusuk Hajj packages ATOL protected?

The Hajj packages will be offered directly by the Saudi Authorities and as such will not benefit from the ATOL scheme which is run by the UK Civil Aviation Authority  and which provides financial protection in the event of a tour operator going bust.   Follow the latest FCDO travel advice and take out a valid travel insurance just in case. 

How do I get a refund for Hajj 2023?

For those seeking refunds from Hajj 2023, visit: https://refundhajj.nusuk.sa/ and log into your account or you can contact the Nusuk support centre (details are on their website).  

Can the Nusuk App be used to book Hajj?

No.  The Nusuk App is used for Umrah & Rawdah bookings only which can be used once you are in Makkah/Madinah. 

You need to register and book Hajj via the official Nusuk Hajj website https://hajj.nusuk.sa/.

How do I book Umrah?

Umrah bookings are made via the Nusuk Umrah App.   You will need a valid visa to register and use the app.  

  • Download the Nusuk App (formerly Eatmarna application) and book your Umrah slot (this app can also be used to book prayers in the noble Rawdah).
